WELCOME TO CHEDER SCHOLARSHIP ORGANIZATION
Give them a Jewish education. Get every dollar back in reduced taxes.
Thank you to eveyone who helped make the 2006 Cheder Campaign a great success. We raised over $550,000 in individual donations and received a $200,000 corporate gift from TEP! You have helped ensure the future of Jewish education in Tucson!

Please watch a small part of the Cheder Thank You Performance with the children of the Tucson Hebrew Academy and the Gan Yeladim, Shomrim and Halutzim classes of Congregation Anshei Israel as they sang thank you to Cheder’s generous donors on November 4, 2007 at
Congregation Anshei Israel.
Since 1999, CSO has given over 400 scholarships to children attending Tucson's Jewish schools. CSO has two participating schools. The Tucson Hebrew Academy, and the kindergarten program of Congregation Anshei Israel. Cheder accepts scholarship applications from participating schools in early fall and distributes scholarship monies based solely on financial need. This is in standing with the ethical mission of Cheder, that each child be afforded a Jewish education, regardless of financial status.
As per state law, 90% of Cheder funds go directly to scholarships. Therefore, your tax dollars are used for education of all children in the Jewish community who may otherwise not be able to afford a Jewish education. It is only through your insight and tax-credit allocation that Cheder can better the Jewish Community and reach the goals of its mission.
The future of any community lies within the hearts and souls of its children. OUR CHILDREN NEED YOU!
It is up to you to help GIVE OUR CHILDREN THE CREDIT THEY DESERVE.
The State of Arizona has given YOU the power to allocate your tax dollars.
Please use this power to allocate your tax credit to CSO. You can make a difference!
The benefits of this program are expansive. By claiming your tax credit, and giving the money to Cheder, you are supporting the future of the Jewish community in Tucson. You are helping to educate future Jewish leaders, to support Jewish youth, and to assure a strong Jewish leadership in the future.
The beauty of this program is that IT COSTS YOU NOTHING! As long as you allocate to Cheder less than your AZ State Tax burden, you will get all of the money, dollar-for-dollar, in return when you file your state income tax return. The Arizona Private School Tuition Tax Credit Law, A. R. S. Section 43-1089, allows a married couple filing jointly to make a donation to CSO of up to $1000 for tax year 2006, and receive a dollar-for-dollar tax credit against their Arizona state income tax. A single taxpayer or head-of-household is limited to $500. If you have an Arizona state income tax burden less than the maximum allowable tax credit donation, then a lesser amount is welcome. The law also allows tax credits to be carried over for up to five years for donations made in excess of the taxpayers actual tax burden. Arizona State income tax forms 301 and 323 are used for claiming the credit. Talk with your tax consultant or see the tax law for the exact details of the program*. Click Here for Arizona Department of Revenue Tax Credit Information.
REMEMBER, in order to claim your tax credit, you must give the money to
Cheder before December 31, and then you must claim that amount as a tax credit when you file your tax return.
For taxpayers wishing to also support their public schools, this can be done as well. Giving to CSO does not preclude you from giving to the public school of your choice.
